Ingredients

For the brownies:

½ cup salted butter, softened (1 stick)
¾ cup granulated sugar
Zest of 1 lemon
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
¾ cup all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ cup chopped pecan pieces

For the glaze:

¾ cup powdered sugar
1 ½ tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Prep: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease or line an 8×8" baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.

  2. Make the batter: In a large bowl or stand mixer, beat the softened butter, sugar, and lemon zest until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in the lemon juice.
Add the flour and baking powder, mixing until just combined.
Fold in the chopped pecans until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

  3. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth it into an even layer.
Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool for 10–15 minutes.

  4. Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, and lemon juice until smooth.
Pour the glaze over the warm brownies, spreading evenly to coat.

Cool & slice: Let the glazed brownies cool completely before slicing into even squares. Enjoy!
